These small sculptures are one-of-a-kind, original artworks. They are called "pottery sculptures" because of the way in which they are built: hand-formed, built without an armature, (usually) rounded forms that are much simpler than the complex head and figure clay sculptures. While they are quite detailed, and are the same quality and materials as the original clay sculptures, they take considerably less time and materials, which is why they cost less! A horse head clay sculpture (such as "Silver Grace") of approximately the same size takes about 5 times as long to sculpt, and up to twice as long to finish, as a pottery sculpture (such as "Pumpkin Patch 1")!

Pottery Sculptures vs. Larger Original Ceramic Sculptures:
  • Same quality and materials, techniques, and processes as original clay sculptures
  • every pottery sculpture is one-of-a-kind ( ooak ), just like original sculptures
  • Same level of detail as original clay sculptures
  • Much smaller than original clay / ceramic sculptures, usually 6" high or less
  • Less time to sculpt and finish, due to size and simpler themes
  • Fewer materials used, about 1/8 to 1/4 the amount as used for original ceramic sculptures
